Staff Spotlight: Dane Hall
Dane Hall joined the THEARI staff team in March of 2020 as our Regional Health Connector (RHC) for Boulder, Broomfield, Clear Creek, and Gilpin counties. Additionally, they are the Program Coordinator for THEARI’s AmeriCorps program, the Behavioral Health Equity Corps (BHEC). Dane brings a unique perspective and experience to their dual role as an alumnus of the same AmeriCorps program.
Dane is passionate about advancing health equity in both their personal life and in their roles at THEARI. They are particularly focused on LGBTQ+ communities and people struggling with or in recovery from a substance use disorder. Dane is themselves trans, nonbinary, and in recovery, and is proud to bring lived experience to their health equity work.
Dane was born in the small town of La Grange, Texas, and relocated from Texas to Boulder to serve with AmeriCorps in March of 2019. Prior to moving to Colorado for their AmeriCorps service year, Dane completed an undergraduate degree in sociology, trained as a community health worker, and worked as a data analyst for a food access nonprofit in Houston. They served a year at Boulder County Public Health, working on building capacity within a county-wide youth substance use prevention coalition. They fell in love with both the Boulder community and the equity driven work.
In their free time, Dane enjoys reading social theory, pampering their quarantine kitty, and spending time with their partner. They are active in local community organizations and enjoy sharing their experiences as a queer person with young people and community members through a local volunteer program. Dane also loves to dance and is always looking for “so bad, it’s good” music to add to their playlists, so if you have any recommendations, please make sure to send them their way!
